Backed by Bezos and bigger bucks–Kindle’s eBook catalogue features award-winning authors, bestsellers and celebrity picks, while Kobo’s catalogue is packed full of the paperback genre books you might pick up (or scoff at the covers of) in line at the grocery store.

So instead of harping on what Kobo didn’t have, we saw an opportunity to tap into readers who were dedicated to those ‘trashy,’ indulgent, unserious eBooks that Kobo Plus was rich with.

Fighting back against “book-shame”

We empowered a whole breed of readers who were made to feel embarrassed of what they’re into – giving them permission to be proud of the books they love, no matter the genre.
